Fail over from a LAN to a WAN link

Hi all, I have a LAN fibre connection between 2 geopgraphically distinct sites which I would like to back up with a redundant WAN link (Microwave). Is there any way to do this redundantly with the failover being automatic and completley transparent - no manual config changes required? I have a Layer 3 switch running each location as a distinct VLAN. Am stumped. Thanks in advance.

Run a dynamic routing protocol (EIGRP, OSPF , RIPv2) between the two layer 3 switches. Configure a better (i.e. lowere metric) on LAN link versus WAN link

Thanks guys, I have never worked with OSPF before. Can anyone direct me to a site that can explain it to me comprehensively? Thanks.
