Errors on Interface Vlan 1 on Catalyst 2950

I am getting an awful lot of errors on interface vlan 1 on my Catalyst 2950's

Anyone have any idea what can cause this ?

Q1. If you do a long running ping from the router to the upper-switch mgmt address on vlan 1, do you have any ping packet loss?

Q2. what does show interface vlan 1 on lower_switch show ?

10000 1500 packets with 0 packet loss.

I have run a series of ping tests from router to switch, from switch to router, from switch to switch, etc. I do not have any packet loss.

However, if I c> >

The only interfaces with errors (at this moment) are gigaethernet 0/1 and vlan 1, as below:

The CRCs on the giga interface are my second problem. I am not sure it is a hardware problem since I have swapped cables, ports and even switches to no avail. It may be related to the errors on VLAN1 problem, but even if it is, I am not sure which problem is causing the other.
