Equipment for partial DS3

Nov 19, 2006 2 Replies

I 've never worked with DS3 before so I really appreciate your advice. My company is going to have a partial DS3 of 6Mb. The provider sends a quote for the Cisco 3845 and it is pretty expensive.

Besides that router, is it posible to have a solution with any other Cisco router with some kind of DS3 module which may be less expensive than the 3845 ?

Any pros and cons ?

Thanks,

DT

The 3845 is capable of supporting two DS3 at full rate

It should be possible to support sub-rate DS3 on a 2800 router.

The catch is if you ever need to increase your bandwidth ...

Merv, thanks for your reply. Could you please let me know the model of the DS3 module that can support the partial DS3 ?

Thanks,

DT
