Enable SSL @ the firewall level to make internal web servers

May 01, 2007 2 Replies

Hello,

Is it possible to enable SSL so that any web servers that are behind the firewall are trafficing over SSL? Even HTTP websites?

My manager has stated that there is such a way, but I'm coming up empty searching and looking through books to configure this. Whats the actual name of this process?

Thanks in advance ..

GNY

I haven't seen this feature in any PIX or FWSM firewalls I've worked with. However your manager might be thinking about the Cisco SSL- termination module available for the Catalyst 6500 switches. This module has the ability to encrypt any HTTP traffic passing through it and send it out on the Internet as SSL.

Thanks for the response.. Will look into it..
