DNS resolver for LAN

May 09, 2009 2 Replies

Hello Is it possible to let the CISCO Router (any on IOS 12.4 or 12.3 maybe..) for example 837 877 1721 2600xm etc

do the dns resolver for the clients on a lan?

I mean:

eth0 192.168.1.254/24 (default gw for the lan) It could be good that the cisco opens the 53/udp and all the lan resolves the internet names on it so we could set:

default gw 192.168.1.254 dns 192.168.1.254 (for lan clients)

thank you

Thank you very much.

I remember in 12.3 that the dns did not solve the names for the client on a LAN. with 12.4 the things are changed..

Thank you for your info.
