Difference between PIX 501 and 800 series

What is the difference between a PIX 501 and the Cisco 800 series?

I want to use a CISCO router at home instead of a Linksys and at the same time I want to learn how to use a CISCO router.

Does the PIX 501 include the IOS software?

Which one should I buy and why?
