Catalyst 4507R "Command rejected: Not a convertible port."

Dear All,

We have a new trouble configuring L3 interfaces on cisco Catalyst

4507R.

When I do try configure a routed physical interface for L3 capabilities with the usual 'no switchport' command the next error (This error is not published on CCO accesing w/ Custumer level password neither I can get info about it googling): "Command rejected: Not a convertible port."

BACKGROUND

This is the way that I try configure the L3 physical interface:

---- SANQUINTIN#conf t Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z. SANQUINTIN(config)#int gi4/24 SANQUINTIN(config-if)#no swit SANQUINTIN(config-if)#no switchport Command rejected: Not a convertible port.

----

I have active 'ip routing'

When I do 'sh ip int brief' The IP interface is present:

---- SANQUINTIN#sh ip int brief ... Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol GigabitEthernet4/24 unassigned YES unset down down
