Problems 1720 Help!

Here is the list of supported WICs from the Cisco Website

The Cisco 1720 router supports any combination of one or two of the following WAN interface cards, which are shared with the Cisco

• WIC-1T: One port high speed serial (sync/async)
• WIC-2T: Two port high speed serial (sync/async)
• WIC-2A/S: Two port low speed serial (sync/async) (up to 128 kbps)
• WIC-1B-S/T: One port ISDN BRI S/T
• WIC-1B-U: One port ISDN BRI U
• WIC-1DSU-56K4: One port integrated 56/64 kbps 4-wire DSU/CSU
• WIC-1DSU-T1: One port integrated T1 / Fractional T1 DSU/CSU

So the card you're trying to use is apparently not supported.

Hi, Yeah its in Slot 0, i saw that myself.

TBH I don't know if its anygood or not. I brought the router+wic off ebay so I can do my CCNA. The router came with the WIC, when I booted it up it didn't have the right IOS to run the WIC. So I updated the IOS via a friend and then complained about lack of memory. So now I got the new momory to run the IOS and find this error and its possible I have wasted all my money!

When I spoke to the guy who sold it to me he just said he never needed to use it. So I am not sure what to think now.

The WIC 0 light comes on, but thats not to say its working.

I just gonna scratch my head for another few hours!

I had this very same issue with our 1751 and I had to take all Serial WICs out first and then the Ethernet WIC worked correctly.

Not sure if this helps, but found it strange for us...
