DCE and DTE

Ok i set a lab at my house so i can do my labs from school. The problem i have is the lab calls for serial 0 to be an dce. My 2501 tells me that the clock rate can't be set on a dte interface. Can someone tell me is the clock rate possible on a serial 0 or does the 2501 serial 1 have to be the dce. Please any help.

you should be using DTE_DCE cable. The router which has DCE cable on its port will allow you to do that command. sh controllers s0 command will show you the interface type
