Charter Pipeline Modem and connection question

Apr 20, 2005 3 Replies

Hello,

I have Charter internet that I got and windows XP and a modem. Via the ethernet, I plug in the modem. I get messages saying that the ethernet is connected. Yet, I cannot surf on Internet explorer.

Please Help

Have you called Charter and given them the information they need about the modem?

Here in comp.dcom.modems.cable, snipped-for-privacy@juno.com spake unto us, saying:

Sounds like a good question for their tech support people. :-)

Power off all parts, then repower the modem and wait one minute; Then power up XP.

It is possible that your particular modem requires a cross-over ethernet cable, but unlikely. From the cmd line in XP, type PING 192.168.1.1 - WHAT does it say?
