cable modem

I have a linksys cable modem and would like to know if there is anything I can do to get more speed from it. Does the cable company restrict the bandwidth.

Yep, you might check with the ISP to see what levels of service/speed you can buy.

Yes, by commanding the modem to do so. It's in the specs and in the executed design, so there's nothing you can (legally) do about it. Bandwidth costs money, how wide do you want to go?

Yes. With DOCSIS modems, the cable company can easily specify bandwidth and will often offer different service levels for different prices.

I ask myself that very question every time I eat at a buffet. :)

Yeah... width costs money in a lot of ways.
