Internet Explorer doesn't recognize wireless connection

My laptop connected to a wireless network. I started Internet Explorer it tried to dial up. When I closed the dial up window it changed IE to "work offline" Internet option is set to "dial if no connection is present." Internte connection shows that I am connected to the wireless connection.

What next?

Uncheck the dial option.

Are you by chance trying to access it through a hotel network?

No, this was at a cafeteria where it has worked before.

Make sure you're actually connected; e.g., with 'ping'. Windows is just telling you that you're associated -- it may not be a connection that goes anywhere, the usual problem being DHCP failure.
