On my Android tablet, I have a great little app called - WiFi Analyzer - which shows the various APs in the area, their signal strenth, freq/channel, etc
Wonder if anything like that is avail for the iPad. I think I saw a comment that the iOS does not provide that kind of API, so there is no detail info avail for the app...
short answer: no.
the apis exist but they're private and not allowed in published apps. there used to be several such apps, but they were eventually pulled from the store for that reason. those who had downloaded the apps could continue to use them. the private apis changed in ios 5 and the apps no longer work. some of the apps that were pulled are now available for jailbroken devices.
