Thinkpad R30 and WPA-PSK

Where can I update the High Rate Wireless LAN Mini PCI combo card driver of the IBM ThinkPad R30 so that I could communicate with a NetGear Wireless Router with the WPA-PSK security?

Thank you.

You cannot just update the driver to do this.

You need a new mini pci card that supports WPA-PSK. No modern card will be accepted by the Bios of the R30.

Therefore you have to create a bootable CDR with no-1802.com on it.

Boot from the CDR and run n-1802.com which will modify the BIOS chip of the R30. A small risk that this may damage your BIOS chip.

Then the next risk is will a modern mini pci card work in the machine. Others in this newsgroup have used a Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Mini PCI Wi-Fi card (Model WM382200BG, Dell P/N 0K3444) in a Thinkpad T30 Model 2366-88U.

So if that works you can do what you want
