Momentary Drop Outs

I am having problems with momentary drop outs on my wireless network at home. I'm using a Linksys WAP54G access point and a Linksys WPC54G card in my laptop. The Ap is connected to a D-Link DI-604 router, which is connected to my DLS modem. The drop outs happen about once every 15-30 minutes and appear to be very brief (probably less than 5 seconds), but it's long enough for Windows XP to flash a message that the connection has been lost and my VPN software disconnects (very annoying).

My signal strength is good, and switching wireless channels does not seem to help. Any ideas?

Thanks! /Don

I had the exact same problem, but my router, wap and pc card was all Linksys equipment. Never did find a reason for the dropoffs and finally replaced everything with Netgear 108mps (WGT624 router & WG511T card) stuff. Haven't had one problem since.

Good luck,

I had a similar problem with my 3Com ADSL router and a 3Com USB Adapter.

Not sure exectly what fixed it but here is a list of things I tried.

Using WEP128 not WPA Use the latest drivers for the USB Adapter Use the Windows XP SP2 Wireless connection software and not the 3Com software Goto the device mananger and untick the checkbox that allows power saving on the USB Root Hub that the Adpater is connected to. Change the ADSL Timeout on the router to 10 minutes instead of 5

Since doing these things I have had not drop outs at all.

Hope this helps
