It is not possible to disable the wireless connection at this time

I cannot disable my wireless (to go wired); Can you give me debugging hints for Windows XP SP3.

I'm the only one (AFAIK) using this laptop computer at a home with nobody else home. I don't have anything "plug-and-play" installed that I know of. I exited the firewall and the antivirus. I've rebooted dozens of times.

Yet I still cannot "repair" or "disable" the wireless networking.

The error I get when I right click on the wireless networking icon is: Error disabling connection It is not possible to disable the connection at this time. This connection may be using one or more protocols that do not support Plug-and-Play, or it may have been initiated by another user or the system account.

Any suggestions for debugging?

You're running ICS (Internet Connection Sharing). The ICS server controls the interface. If you want to turn it off, kill ICS, or better yet, remove it.
