This movie, from 1983, is kind of a starting point for the home computer communicator revolution. It's 25 years ago so the technololgy is hopelessly obsolete. The movie's a little overdone and corny. But it is interesting to watch to see the old telephone technology, a good "now and then" view.
It will be on AMC cable Fri June 27th, 10 pm, as well as other times. Check local listings.
***** Moderator's Note *****The technology was hopelessly out of date _for_ _1983_!! They had accoustic couplers with mechanical handset lifts, a computer with register switches on its front, and the obligatory tape drives in the "computer center". Sigh.
For all that, it _was_ an entertaining film, well acted and enjoyable. It also caused a lot of people to think about the Laisez-faire attitude toward security that plagued many schools and small companies even to the present day.
