Apps I Want to Go Away

In my most recent Tool Kit column, I explained how to better organize the apps on your smartphone. But in the article, I wrote half a sentence that's been bugging me:
"But 24 additional Apple apps also cannot be deleted ?"
I haven't been able to shake it. Why? Why can't those apps be deleted?
Now, I know they can be deleted, if I really want them gone. But that requires jailbreaking my iPhone and, well, I have a thing about jailbreaking. Rather, I have a thing about warranties; I don't like voiding them, so hacking my iPhone to achieve my minimalist ideal is not an option.
I also recognize that a few of those two dozen apps are what you could call "essential" apps. They interact with other features on the phone and are too important to be deleted. Among the built-in, nondelete-able apps that I would classify this way are:
