Crews installing a fiber optic line Tuesday afternoon knocked out land line phone service to the majority of the Castle Creek Valley, though service was believed to have fully been restored by Thursday afternoon, said Pitkin County Engineer GF Fielding. The area is not served by cell service, with satellite internet as that valley's only other option,

Fielding said contractor Sturgeon Electric - which was responsible for the severed lines while doing work for Pathfinder LLC, the locally based internet service provider created to provide fiber-optic broadband service to the Castle Creek Valley - made its priority restoration of the land lines before continuing work on the fiber optic lines.
