Two Driveway Patrols

Mar 22, 2006 8 Replies

I have a Driveway Patrol system and it has been working great. Recently my neighbor got one too after seeing how well mine works. Now we both get alerted whenever someone goes past either of our sensors. I'm guessing that the manufacturer never expected to sell very many of these and have two people close to each other using the product :)

Is there some way to change the frequency, Kenneth?

Rod

probably not. but need more info. manufacturer etc.

It's the First Alert, Driveway Patrol Infrared Wireless Alert System, As Seen On TV, TELEBrands.

Looked at the FCC info for these devices and they use a crystal to set the frequency @ 433.8 so it doesn't appear that there is any 'easy' way to change the frequency.

I'm trying to work with the neighbor to reduce the range of our transmitters and receivers in the hope that we can get things tuned to a point where we can only 'see' our own transmitters. There are antenna wires inside the transmitter and receiver ends that we are trimming to try and reduce the range. We are also working to shield the receivers to try and filter out the neighbor's signals.

one of you is going to have to switch to a different brand with diff freq

As in drive "by"??? Drive right "by" and don't stop??? Just keep goin' "by"??? That Dell you bought on eBay needs a tune-up. Or are you still using the pink one "Elvis" gave you??

:-)

I think that the real products are overkill for our application. You see we are using the driveway alerting system as a entry alerting system. Sort of like a door bell that goes off whenever someone enters a room. The low price and simple installation were key factors in our decision. I think the easiest solution for us will be to find another low cost system that uses a different frequency/protocol to alert the bell end.

Thanks for the responses.
