Hey guys!!! I just got a surprise the other day. Had a customer with a smoke detector that was falsing and sending the trucks and all. Anyhow, it was a 4 wire and needed to be replaced.



Called distributor, actually two and ZERO Stock!! This included a 2-wire smokes as well. Also no ETA for any.



My next choice was eBay!! Well it turns out there is this guy in New Jersey that has over 100 or each!! Well his price is a bit high but what choice do I have. Placed an order for a few and had them the next day!!



Now I am sure this is not a isolated case and that it will get worse. All those container ships anchored off shore full of stuff could be the problem!! I am sure this is going to H-U-R-T for quite a while!!



Well, I got to go replace a bad smoke with an expensive smoke today!!

Who are the distributors? Could be just them. I just picked up some from Alarmax. I didn't ask if there was a problem getting them but there didn't appear to be any shortage on the shelf.

Hi Jim,

Well yes it was Alarmax but maybe I should have specified that I wanted the System Sensor 2W-B and 4W-B smokes. Nothing from ADI or Alarmax!!

I have found the same for the DSC TL880LE and TL880LT Cellular Communicator. Nothing from ADI, Alarmax or Anixter!!

So what model smokes did you get from Alarmax and when??

I don't remember the part numbers but I got four System Sensor 2 wire smokes, with heat sensor, no sounder and two 4wire, with heat sensor, no sounder. And there was plenty left on the shelf.

Re: Bob's rendering Yeah, seems like a lot of work went into it. But why not just do this? ?

Jim, very interesting or lets say frustrating to a point. Which Alarmax location and when did you get them?? Maybe you got the last of the day!

At this point in time I am Ok with my stock unless something bad happens with another customer. The future look grim to a point.
