Anybody know where I can get an adapter that connects a BNC wire from a DVR monitor output directly to a computer VGA monitor ?
Would it work at all or do I need to connect the BNC to a computer and then the computer to a monitor to get the camera images on the computer monitor.
Won't work.
You could do that, but you'd need something for a video-input device on the computer, at which point you may as well just use the computer for a DVR itself.
Why not just get a standard video monitor? Pick up a 13" TV at your local electronics superstore for something like $60.

Here in the UK we use a small box that works well. Needs power but then so does the monitor so not a major problem. They cost around £50.
