Nortel phone features

My office has about 40 computers/phones and we've all got Nortel

2002's in a simple setup. None of our phones have the Call Timer feature to show elapsed call time, but I would like to have this feature. The user guide indicates that the 2002 supports call timer, but how do I get this onto the phone? Is a phone server required? Any ideas?
