Group Listening Feature

Hi,

Could someone help me understand how the group listening feature should work on a BCM It is my understanding that it is a feature so you can put the person on the other end of the phone onto speaker so someone standing behind you will be able to listen to the conversation. However, this shoud not enable the microphone on the phone, only the handset microphone should be enabled, but this seems not to be the case so if the person behind you is speaking the person on the phone will hear them.

Help is appreciated.

Regards Marc /.

How it works is actually how most other features work in the Nortel system. It's all based on the "PFM Principle".

Really though, in the group listen mode, what is said on the other end is broadcast through the speaker on the near end. What the other person hears on the other end comes from the transmitter in the handset on the near end. The far end can hear what's said if the person speaking on the near end is close enough to the handset transmitter. If the person standing behind you is loud enough, he can be heard on the far end. Is that clear enough?
