Waveman & X10

Hi,

Has anybody tried the Waveman series of Tx & Rx devices? Any good/bad reviews ?

Do these happen to be compatible with the X10 RF equipment?

Any feed back at all would be appreciated.

Neil.

If you are referring to Marelco Waveman, I do not think they are X-10 compatible. I think they use a 24-bit code similar (maybe identical) to Intertechno and Elro while X-10 uses a 32-bit code based on the NEC IR protocol.

You might try asking Marelco.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the links. Do you have any further details on the X10 security codes? I'm making my own X10 RF receiver. Do you know of any difference in timing between the 315Mhz and the 433 MHz X10 signals?

Ta,

Neil.

Using the second illustration in the X-10 RF link...

the first byte is C0 C1 C2 C3 C4 C5 C6 C7 and the second is /C0 /C1 /C2 /C3 C4 C5 C6 C7.

Using the first illustration and its first byte 00110111, the second byte is

11000111.

There's no difference in timing between the 310MHz used in N. America and the 433.92MHz used elsewhere. Most X-10 receivers tolerate wide variations in timing. I've tested them with ±20% variations. Some European receivers may have tighter bandwidth.

IIRC my BX24-AHT source code at...

shows how to discriminate between standard and security RF codes.
