UR51A X-10 Remote

Does anyone know anything about this remote? It's allegedly for the MP3 Anywhere kit. I came across one today, and although it's identical to the

8-in-1 remote physically, the label on the back says "MP3 Remote Model UR51A - For use with M26A receiver"" and the inside label says "X1005" instead of the more usual P1024 for models of that era (Jan 2000, according to the date code). The label also gives a different FCC code for the UR51A: B4SUR47A. The code for the UR24A is B4SUR23A.

There were a number of messages in Google from people who had bought the kit but got a remote different than that pictured in the X-10 ads, but alas, no actual pictures turned up. Searches for the manual at the X-10 site reveal nothing but dead links.

It seems to me they either slapped the wrong label on this remote or they had designed MP3 Anywhere with a different one and then switched to this model because of some glitch.

Very interesting. That picture looks a little weird around the edges and it's clearly NOT what I have with the MP3 label on the back. The UR51A docs also indicate there's a MP3 button on the remote, and there's no such animal on my remote. So far it programs up just like a normal UR24A so I am just going to assume it *is* one and that they either slapped the wrong labels on it at the factory or for some reason stopped providing the remote that you found pictured on Segal's page.

That was about the time they began putting slips of paper in shipments explaining that what they sent was better than what you ordered. I recall a number of switcheroos they pulled on me, particularly with the video and audio transmitters.

Thanks for the input, Dave. Another of X-10's many freaking mysteries. The UR51A might be some sort of "in" joke at X-10 based on the USAF's infamous "Area 51."
