What's the IP for my IPCop Local VPN Host?

May 23, 2005 0 Replies

I'm using IPCop 1.4.6, and using a HowTo to set up VPN for 1.2.0. There are some differences.

On my IPCop GUI for VPN it askes for: Local VPN Hostname/IP.

Is that the IP for my IPCop/VPN for the "Red" NIC that's visible by the ISP's firewall which is where VPN traffic will be forwarded to? (192.168.1.100)

Is that the IP for my IPCop/VPN for the "Green" NIC that's visible to the LAN? (192.168.0.1)

Is it the public IP address the VPN client will be "dialing" to? (204.XX.XX.XX)

Is it the IP address of the ISP's firewall? (192.168.1.1)

The wording "Local VPN Host" makes it SOUND like it's asking for the Red NIC's IP on the IPCop box, but it could be the public IP address...but that IP is basically irrelevant once traffic passes the ISP's firewall.

The documentation is basically non-existant, and the HowTo I'm using doesn't specify:

seems like it's giving me a clue...but I can't quite tell for sure.

Any advice? Thanks!
