Strange access to an web server

Am a newbie for home web sever. So, please be kind. Am running a small server with tight (I think) router and firewall. Revewing logs periodically, I occasionary find following two types of accesses:

"CONNECT 66.94.230.42:80 HTTP/1.1" "GET

The connecting-to address varies from time to time. Those attemps are mainly by China origin.

Now, what are those appemts for?

Thanks in advance. Tak

Checking for open proxies.

Open proxies can be used to attempt to hide your tracks when doing something really wrong, but keep in mind that the Chinese are often behind very restricive and controlled filters that prevent them from accessing things we take for granted, like several search engines.
