Sniff mail through firewall / proxy

Jan 27, 2006 2 Replies

Is there a way to sniff either a gmail password or message text that passes through a Linux firewall (iptables) or proxy server (proxy runs squid).

The gmail.com site is encrypted using 128-bit SSL encryption, thus rendering the sniffing of packets containing passwords useless (unless you know of a crack for SSL encryption)

bah .. that is what I thought ...

Thank you,
