Yea, I looked up alg.exe and found out it is the XP firewall.
Port 113 is closed

OK, thx for the info. I'll get a grip on this stuff one of these days. :-)
Oh, well, that's MS for you. I do have Kubuntu Linux on another machine but I don't use it much as I'm a gamer and XP is best for that purpose.
