Linksys BEFW11S4 ver.3: Upgrade firmware? open original image

Hi,

My Linksys Wireles / 4-port Router shows "1.45z, Feb 28 2003" firmware version. According to the web-site the latest for this model is

1.45.10 (dated 4/15/2004), which is one step up.

I'm experiencing connection interruptions that are especially annoying when I'm using VPN and quickly run out of available sessions.

I'm not sure whether the improvements made between the two versions could resolve my problem

Any opinions?

TIA, Eugene

Brad,

While I see "Recommended Firmware Upgrade for the BEFW11S4 Version 4" document there I found no similar guidelines for Version 3.

Have I missed something?

Woody,

Are you happy with it? Any problems?

You must not have selected v3 from the master list. Q

The solution would be to install the firmware and see if it fixes it. It is very easy to do. I have been running the new firmware for at least six months....

Q,

If you can see my original message you would notice that I have found the upgrade. What I could not find is when (in plain terms) this upgrade is actually recommended.

It works fine for me but I don't use VPN.

Download it and read the release notes and change history.

Q

Q,

I've done all that before I posted my original question. It was not clear for me whether the improvements made in the latest version over mine are related to the problem I described. Though I'm dealing with computers professionally for quite some time, networking is not my area.
