For anyone interested in undersea fiber optic cables, epecially in teaching or giving talks about them, there's a great scannable panoramic cartoon/graphic illustration at
(Try blowing up the window to the full width of your display, and dragging the little indicator that runs across the bottom.)
If anyone knows of a way to capture or download the whole thing, I'd be glad to hear about it.
I'm running Firefox 3.6, and if you right click on it, there's an option for "View Background Image" which you can subsequently save. In IE, right click, then "save background as." It will save as one large JPG image.

I thought it was neat also. Safari doesn't seem to have this "Save background" capability; but some other kind soul sent me the JPG.
