Ethernet security

Hello,

Is someone could give please the details of the "SEC Tag" field in a

802.3 MAC frame. This prefix is just after the source address. Have you also the details of the ICV postfix?

These indications are not in the free 802.3-2002, I suppose that it is in the 2005 version, with paiement.

Regards, Michelot

Their use is defined in IEEE 802.1AE which is not yet published.

Hello Anoop,

Thanks, the first time I am in advance.

Do you know the EtherType that will point on fields described in future IEEE 802.1AE?

Regards, Michelot

I think it's 0x88E5. Not sure, though, as these things can change until the spec is actually published.

Bonsoir Anoop,

Perhaps the good value. It seems to be reserved for the ae drafts:

But we can go further.
