You may want to investigate The Cisco Secure Access Control Server ( ACS ) Solution Engine:

User authentication on routers open original image

Hi,

I am looking for a way to manage accounts with different privilege levels on multiple Cisco routers and switches. Ideally set them up on a central server and have the devices authenticate against that, including handing over the allowed commands to the device. It needs to support IOS and CatOS. Extra bonus points if this infrastructure could be used to also authenticate users on a set of Unix (Linux, Solaris) boxen.

Does anyone use something like this and can maybe recommend a product?

Thanks in advance!
