Setting up Error Logging on Cisco IOS

Hello all,

We have been running some Cisco 4006 switches that are now being replaced with 4507's. We had some error logging set up with the CatOS that would show us when a port was connected or disconnected.

EXAMPLE: DTP-5-AUXVLANPORTOFF: 2007 Jun 13 06:55:38 %DTP-5- AUXVLANPORTOFF:Auxiliary vlan removed on port 3/18

I would like to implement this feature on the 4507 devices. I have tried setting the logging for 'monitor' to informational, but no success. I know I am missing a step but cannot figure out what it is. I will include some other pieces of the puzzle below.

NEW IOS settings:

Syslog logging: enabled (0 messages dropped, 8 messages rate-limited,

0 flushes, 0 overruns, xml disabled, filtering disabled) Console logging: level debugging, 180 messages logged, xml disabled, filtering disabled Monitor logging: level informational, 5 messages logged, xml disabled, filtering disabled Buffer logging: level debugging, 187 messages logged, xml disabled, filtering disabled

OLD CatOS settings:

Logging buffer size: 500 timestamp option: enabled Logging history: size: 1 severity: warnings(4) Logging console: enabled Logging telnet: enabled Logging server: disabled server facility: LOCAL7 server severity: warnings(4) Current Logging Session: enabled

Facility Default Severity Current Session Severity

Thank you for any support you can provide.

# Logging on # Logging trap 7 (Trap 7 is debug level, this will log all events) # Logging X.X.X.X (where X.X.X.X is your syslog server) # Write Memory
