Rebuild the secondary PIX firewall

Jul 25, 2007 3 Replies

Hi

Could some one help/ suggest as to how I can go about reconfiguring the secondary PIX Fw.

We have a LAN based failover (PIX 535) as of now we have just the Primary running and the secdary is switched off as its not allowing us to log in either thru console/ remote.

I would like to erase the existing the config on secondary and rebuild the secondary firewall.

Any help would be appriciated! Thanks in advance! cheers!

- remove the seconday PIX from the setup

- "clear configure"

- Configure mode, context and basic failover

- reconnecto the PIX to the setup, but leave the networks unattached

- power on the PIX, the rest of the configuration will be pushed

- "write secondary"

- attach networks.

You MAY do this if you have FULL license for second PIX. If you purchased them as a "pair", one comes with a full license, and second won't start without a first.

Good luck,
