proxy arp vs vlan

Hi all, I have a router with 2 ethernet ports. The ip addresses on interface a is 10.1.1.1 and on interface b is 10.2.1.1.

Some clients on the same ethernet as interface a use

10.2.1.1 as a default gateway.

Would it be more efficient to logically group the 2 ethernet interfaces into 1 vlan interface or to enable proxy arp on both?

Why? Your default gateway should be in the same subnet as your address.

I don't think it makes a difference. Either way, the client sends an ARP query and the router sends an ARP response.
