Possible problems with LFI on a c837

Hi Folks,

A client is using a bunch of cisco 837s in an ADSL private IP network. The uplink is somewhat slow at 128 Kbps, so to allow small high priority packets to pass the 1500 byte low priority stuff we enabled LFI.

This was very effective at improving the performance of the interactive traffic whilst there are heavy background bulk traffic flows.

Some time after implementing this we started noticing the links going down and not coming back up - it looks like the LFI somehow prevents the dialer interface from redialing after a failure.

Anyone else noticed this?

The IOS is c837-k9o3sy6-mz.123-2.T.bin which is quite old, but a sentimental favourite of the service provider.

I'd love to get the improved latency back by switching LFI back on, and it would be a help to know when it was fixed if this is a known problem.

Cheers, Dieter.
