is it right that the Pix or ASA doesn't support compression for ipsec?

PIX 4/5/6 do not. I do not know about PIX 7/8 (same software as ASA). My recollection is that PIX 7.0 does not, but I stopped reading the release notes after 7.0 (because I switched to a different kind of work.)
