Does cisco support console access if using TACACS

Hi



  1. How many access typies support if i use tacacs? (i mean console, web and telnet etc)
  2. When access a switch/router from console it does not prompt user name, just en then pasword. How does it work if using tacacs?

line password and TACACS/RADIUS are mutual exclusive on the same line. So all just like you configure it.

They are NOT mutually exclusive!!! You can configure authentication to use a primary, seconday and teriary authentication methods. In the below example, TACACS is used if a server is available, then the line password IF one is configured, and finally the enable password. If you TACACS is unavailable, AND you don't have a line password configured AND you don't have an enable password configured, you won't be able to login.

aaa new-model aaa authentication login default group tacacs+ line enable

Then answers to the original questions are:

1) all of them 2) it prompts you for a username first and then a password
