I have a new Cisco 871 connected to a Motorola 5101 cable modem.
The Internet bandwidth I've been getting is very variable. Tongiht, I was getting less than one megabit per second.
Is there some setting on the Internet port that I could change to improve this situation?

Well, how long is a piece of string?
Seems unlikely to be a problem with the 871 however post sh int after it has been up for a while and has transferred lots of traffic and I and/or others will have a look.
Also post sh ver.
Sh proc cpu when under load is probably worth a go too.
