cisco 1300 diversity

the Cisco outdoor 1300, with 2 external antenna connectors, offers (what Cisco) call "diversity". Can they tx and rx on both antenna at the same time ? The docs do mention it, but if this is a restriction, they dont spell it out. TIA

No. WLAN is a shared media and half-duplex "only". Diversity is selecting the better antenna for data after which antenna had the better signal when receiving the preamble.

Uli, many thanks. Can some clients be tx/rx on left; and others on right ?

Yes. The antenna is selected on a per-packet basis automatically for rx, or diversity can be turned off by selecting one antenna. You cannot assign stations to a given antenna by software configuration.

Uli, many thanks, perhaps just one last question (sorry): Is this also the case for tx (I'm assuming it is, and that if an antenna is chosen by the 1300 for rx, it will also use that antenna for tx) ?

running diversity for tx is kindof magic. When the AP sends out the beacons, it is best to do this through both antennas as all associated stations should receive them. Those better through left antenna like those better through right antenna. But beacon diversity handling differs by various vendors implementations.

It is possible to send a packet to a station through the antenna with the best signal from station's last packet to ap, but this may not still be the better path.

I haven't found hard serious facts how tx diversity is implemented.
