I am wondering what the setup steps would be for a catalyst 4507. As far as hardware hookup and installation - right out of the box. Thanks

Plug in power, plug your workstations into any port?

By default it'll operate just like any other dumb ethernet switch. Somebody buying this kind of switch though probably is looking to do alot more with it, and reading the documentation is a good start.

Really!

6500 sup720 had default of all ports shutdown two years ago.

And "no switchport" too IIRC but I may not. Not had a new 4500 to play with for a while.
