C6500 Earl L3 Asic warning

May 16, 2006 5 Replies

Hello,

since 2 days i receive some strange messages in the logfile:

May 16 11:57:02: %EARL_L3_ASIC-SP-3-INTR_WARN: EARL L3 ASIC: Non-fatal interrupt Packet Parser block interrupt May 16 11:58:03: %EARL_L3_ASIC-SP-3-INTR_WARN: EARL L3 ASIC: Non-fatal interrupt Packet Parser block interrupt May 16 11:59:04: %EARL_L3_ASIC-SP-3-INTR_WARN: EARL L3 ASIC: Non-fatal interrupt Packet Parser block interrupt

I was unable to find a discription of this error message in the internet. What is causing the message above? Any idea?

Best regards,

Holger Amberg

to see what interrupt counter is incrementing try:

remote command switch show plat hardware earl status | begin Packet Parser

So the parser interrupts are due to packets with IP checksum errors.

These errors were also seen in the show mls statistics output display.

I do not believe the message " EARL_L3_ASIC-SP-3-INTR_WARN: EARL L3 ASIC: Non-fatal interrupt Packet Parser block interrupt" is anything that you need to worry about.

You can turn it off with: no mls verify ip checksum
