setting up outside interface in pix501

Aug 20, 2006 1 Replies

i'm trying to setup pix 501 and i'm newbie here. current setup i've dsl modem with static ip and nat enabled. i've another static ip for pix 501 that i can use. my setup right now is i connected dsl modem and disable nat. in my pix 501 i setup internal address as ip 192.168.1.1 and mask 255.255.255.0

in this case what would be my outside ip. would be my modem ip or would be the static ip that i've extra for pix. also what would be for the gateway.... any help would be great. i'm setting up this in small network environment and has one terminal server that's all.

thanks

gateway would probably be your dsl modem/router ip

your outside ip is whatever external ip your modem has whether dhcp or assigned

remember your pix isnt connected to the web, your modem/router is
