No CDP?

Hello all,

I'm going for my CCNA and I have built a home lab with:

2 - Cisco 2501's 1 - Cisco 2502 1 - Cisco 2507 (access server) 1 - Catalyst 2924M-XL 24port switch 1 - Catalyst 2924-XL 24port switch (no M in this one)

The problem I have is that on one of my 2501's I do not have ANY CDP commands.. I think I may have screwed the pooch on something so can someone tell me if I have an outdated IOS, and if I do, how much does it cost to upgrade and is it worth it? Thanks..here is the version output:

Your ios is ancient (feb 95). you need to upgrade you have 8mb flash and 4mb ram so you might need to increase at least your ram before you can upgrade to a more recent ios.

What don't you start by borrowing the ios from one of the other routers.

how do I do that? I'm pretty new and I'm reading 5 books on CCNA/ Networking, but I'm in the theory of all of that now...would i use the copy tftp command or what? Thanks!

Yes, copy the desired file to your tft server and then from the server to the other router.

#copy c2500.js.-12.2.20.bin tftp

on the other router you have to go through the ios upgrade precdure:

make sure it fits in the flash mem.
