After losing my Schrade multi-tool recently I decided to buy a Paladin Powerplay multi-tool - specifically the PT-540 (claimed to have 30 tools in one). So far I'm not impressed, but maybe I just haven't given it a chance. Anybody have one of these (or one of the other models) and care to comment?

Well, as they say on their website, these Leatherman-style multi-tools are not replacements for regular tools. I agree, and the handles are one weakness that makes them unsuitable for any sort of heavy-duty (continuous) use.
I don't have the Paladin, but the punchdown blade looks interesting. I don't like the lack of a dental-pick type hook. Picking wire out of 110 or (horrors) 66 is a relatively frequent light-duty activity.
