Keep having to reset Linksys router

Linksys Router: BEFSR41

On average, I lose my connection once per day. It's not the internet or my cable modem. I still have a connection, just my router "drops" it. I press the reset button on the router and then the connection is returned. I have upgraded to the latest firmware but still have the same problem. Does this sound like the router is dying?

I have the 1 port version of your router... and I noticed the newer firmware is quite unstable with the router.

I'm in the process of buying a new router... probably one from Zyxel which I heard are much more reliable.

I had the very same problem, only more frequently. I called Linksys tech support, and they had me go into the router setup and change two settings, and that solved the problem completely. I just can't remember what they were though. I think they were on the basic settings page. The tech said the settings were published on their web site.

NO

if the router was dead it wouldnt work. its a work or dont work box.

but theres a ton of settings inside the router, perhaps those need changing.

i suggest calling up RR and tell them your modem stays connected but your router gets disconnected, and give them your router model #. they should be able to help.

i use a dlink 704p router, which works fine on my dsl.

also newer firmware unfort does not always mean better.. :( ...
