MAC Address

Hi,

For accessing Internet, I am using ADSL modem with USB interface. How this USB interface is getting MAC address? Is it dynamic or static?

I can understand that the ADSL modem with Ethernet interface has a unique MAC address.

It is probably programmed into the modem driver, and may be accessible from driver config/mgmt screens. Often there is a "clone MAC" button or manual MAC entry box.

Sure, but why will it matter? Ethernets uses MACs locally. ASDL doesn't use MACs. Typically it runs some PPP varient. That protocol might want an upstream "MAC" as some sort of security token.
