Unable to connect in draft-N speeds unless WPA2 enabled

Jan 17, 2008 2 Replies

I have a Toshiba A205-S4639 with an Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN, I'm having issues connecting to my Apple Airport Extreme (gigabit draft-N edition, latest firmware)

Laptop is running Vista Business x86.

With encryption disabled on the AP, Vista reports a stable 130Mb/s connection and I can push ~75Mb/s sustained, so draft-N appears to be working.

However, when I enable WPA2-PSK in 802.11n-only mode on the Airport Extreme, I am unable to connect. If I switch to 802.11g/n mode, I can establish a 54Mb connection.

Any clues as to why I can't get a draft-N connection with security enabled?

Probably because they aren't fully compatible in DRAFT n mode.

Does the Airport have the "Connect with Intel® Centrino®" sticker?

Try just using 63 hex numbers as the key.
